How to Pin Curl Hair

Once pin curls methods were very popular. Now, they are coming back. The ease of doing and ease on hairs are the reasons which are bringing them back. The method of pin curl which you use will determine the style you get.

Here is detail of the pin curl hair style which is used in waves like curls. It works on both dry and wet hairs.

Following items are needed for pin curl hair.

• Comb
• Booby pins
• Hair spray, and
• Shower cap or scarf.

How it is done.

• Wash hairs then Comb hair and remove any knot.
• Make two broad sections of hair.
• Take one section first and roll in on fingers, use index and middle finger,
• For tighter curls, use half to one inch wide hair section or strand.
• Take this rolled strand of hairs over the scalp and slide you finger through the curl,
• Pin the curl with booby pins. If you want to use these pins for night then lay the curl flat against you scalp and pin them using two booby pins.
• To get more volume put curls in more upright position
• Use these pins on hairs by taking separate strands and rolling them as mentioned.
• Use hair spray.
• Use heat from drier to hold the curls. If hairs are wet then air dry them.
• Gently remove the pins from the bottom of the hair shaft, one by one by holding the curls.
• Use fingers to separate the curls and also can use wide tooted comb.
• Use light spray on hairs.
• Using bristle brush will give you serious and volume waves.

Following points must be kept in mind.

• Damp hairs will give tighter curls. So wet your hair if you want tighter curls

• Curls should be away from your face.
• Cover head with shower cap or something if using pins at night.
• Never use comb or brush after using pins. This will destroy the curls.

This process is best on medium to long hairs.

Pin curl for short hair.

For short hairs the basic process is same.

• Shampoo wash hair and use towel to dry them. Take one section of hair, not more than one inch in size and comb to remove any knot.
• Use hair spray. If you cannot use spray, use water spray. It will also show, which one works best for your hairs.

How it works.

• Take a section of hairs and roll it around finger by holding the base of the curl with other hand finger. When a curl is formed, put booby or any other pin on the centre of the curl against the scalp.
• Keep ends of sections inside the curl to curb stray ends.
• Do the same with all sections of hairs. Rolling and pining against the scalp.
• Dry hairs with drier or air dry.
• Remove the pins gently.

Since hairs are short, it may not be easy to make strands. Here, rat tail comb can be used to create the strands of hair which can come in hands for rolling easily .ideally the size of hairs sections or strands should be one inch.

Some other methods of pin curls.

• .Create a large twist of hair on top of the head. Use booby pins to secure that big twist.
• Then shake the head to loosen the pins a bit.
• Leave the hair at forehead. Make a ponytail of rest of hairs.
• Ponytail may be tight or loose depending on your preference.
• Use hair spray or hidden pin to create curls.

Loose and sensual pin curl.

Similar to the previous method. Here front part of the hairs on forehead is rolled and pin secured.

• Ponytail is made from unrolled hairs. Hairs from sides are made in twist.
• Loose curls are pined with the top rolled hair strand.
• The top rolled strand is kept in forward position by using pins under it.
• Use hair spray.

• Heating and chemical is not used
• They do not damaged hairs
• Cost of pins is not very high
• Can be done at home

Negatives of pin curl method.

• The curl is not permanent
• It takes several hours.
• Sleeping with pins can injure the scalp
